With kindest regards, Sincerely yours," John L. Cable (1884-1971) was the great-grandson of Joseph Cable winner of the Medal of Honor during the American Indian Wars. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio (1909), after earning a J. D. from George Washington University. After serving as a prosecutor (1917-1921) he entered politics, was elected to Congress as a Republican and served the first time from 1921-1925. Choosing not to run for reelection, he resumed a law practice. He ran again and served from 1929-1933 but was unsuccessful in his next bid. He was appointed Government appeal agent of Selective Service Board No. 2 and served from 1948-1960. Normal mailing folds. Lightly toned and soiled.
