Gunsmoke was televised on CBS from 1955 to 1975 (636 hour-long episodes) and is television's longest-running primetime dramatic series. It was the No. 1 show in the Nielsen ratings for four years in a row (1957-1961). BUCK TAYLOR (b. 1938) is an American actor best known for his role in the television series Gunsmoke. Over his career, Taylor has been cast in over one-hundred titles including Zane Grey Theater (1961), The Wild Angels (1966), Big Bad John (1990), and the 2005 film Truce. KEN CURTIS (1916-1991) portrayed Festus Haggen, a backwoodsman who was Marshal Matt Dillon's Deputy on the long-running TV series Gunsmoke from 1964-1975. Curtis began his entertainment career as a singer with Tommy Dorsey's Orchestra in the 1930s, joined the Sons of the Pioneers so he could singer country and western, accompanied that group into musical westerns, and then got a few starring roles (Stallion Canyon, 1949). AMANDA BLAKE (1929-1989), born Beverly Louise Neill, is best remembered as Kitty Russell, hostess of the Long Branch Saloon in the long-running TV Western, Gunsmoke (1955-1974; she left the show before its final season). She was nominated for Golden Globes for Best Actress - Drama for the role in 1969 and 1970 and for the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe in 1971. Blake, who had been signed by MGM in 1949, made her film debut in 1950, the year she was first cast opposite her future Gunsmoke co-star, James Arness, in Stars in My Crown.
