I am pleased to learn that you have some of my records and that you enjoyed my recital of the tenth. In compliance with your request, my autographed photograph is enclosed. Frieda Hempel (1885-1955) was a famous German-born American operatic soprano with a wide dramatic range, pure tone and knack for delivering decorative passages. Between her 1905 debut and 1919, she had command performances for Kaiser Wilhelm II at his request and made appearances at the Royal Court Opera in Berlin, German; Covent Garden in London; and the Metropolitan Opera, where she had 200 performances between 1912 and 1919. After 1919, she devoted herself mostly to concert recitals, including performances dressed as soprano Jenny Lind. Her most famous role is probably the Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute, and she was the first to perform the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier in New York City. Light surface creases.
