I have fashioned this little sailor romper in a classic style reminiscent of the 1940s or 50s. It is all white and ready for baby's Christening. Made from a cotton fabric, it features a large sailor collar trimmed in the tiniest white grosgrain ribbon. Small white buttons fasten the leg openings for easy diaper change. There are also buttons down the back. The long sleeves have been changed from the original romper. They now feature a cuff that does not button, making it easier for Mom. Instead it is trimmed with 2 rows of ribbon to emphasize the sailor theme.

Inside, the pant and sleeves are french seamed. The bodice is fully lined, enclosing all the seams between the layers even at the armholes so there is nothing itchy against baby's skin. It may be machine washed and dried at low settings and may need touched up with a warm iron depending on the look you want. All my baby fabrics have been washed in baby soap to protect delicate skin and are ready to wear.

This little romper is size newborn to 3 months but please measure baby to be sure. Garment measurements are as follows:

chest - 19" (48 cm) around

torso - shoulder to crotch (diagonal measurement) - 14 and 1/2" (37 cm)

shoulder to ankle - 20" (51 cm)

sleeve length - 9" (23 cm)

Baby's measurements should be smaller than this by 1 and 1/2" to 2" (3.5 to 5 cm) for the chest and torso for ease of movement.
