This 316L Surgical Stainless Steel captive ring is available in 18 gauge, 16 gauge, 14 gauge with the inner diameters of 5/16 inch (8mm), 3/8 inch (10mm), 7/16 inch (11mm), 1/2 inch (12mm). Captive rings are also known as ball closure rings. The ball is held in by pressure and hoop must be opened slightly to get ball out. Some of the heavier gauge captive rings (14 gauge and higher) may require captive pliers to get them opened to remove the ball. This Stainless Steel captive ring is colored by a process called Anodization. Anodizing is a process whereby an electrical current is passed through the metal and oxide buildup on the surface of the metal which causes the color to change to vivid metallic colors.
