When I was 13, my mum gave me a book written by Echo Chen’s (a late author from Taiwan, she abandoned school, traveled to many countries, learned Spanish, German, English, married to a Spanish man Hosi and lived in Sahara Africa until her husband died of an accident, years later she committed suicide mysteriously).

Her works were majorly inspired from her life, as fresh as spring breeze, full of dreamy colors and power; she is an author makes you smile, makes you cry, makes you think, about your life and future.

My parents were concerned I would abandon school too, also wanted to wander one day, chasing something unrealistic. While, after I read all her books, I found her a very hard working person who has the purest heart and serious on her dream, that’s why she could had a wonderful life and seen the world. With the unreal ambition only, you won’t go anywhere. She taught me that wandering (or chasing a life following your heart), seemingly romantic; it actually required more efforts and strength.

So thank you, Echo. You built my aesthetics and definition on how an ideal woman should dress herself and how she should live. Unfortunately, there is no English version of her works, seems the world has already forgot her. Actually there are readers don't forget her, I know a Chinese lady learned Spanish and went to Africa to find her husband's grave recently.
