This is an exquisite handmade Victorian white lace cotton christening gown from the 1870s approximately. The gown has lace "butterfly" sleeves which have two rows of 3 inch wide lace. The top layer of the lace on the sleeves cascades down either side of the gown (at an angle) to the hemline like "wings". The neckline is trimmed with dainty white lace and from the bodice to the hemline there are alternate rows of lace (10 rows total) and pin tucking (29 total rows total). The gown fastens in the back with two sets of cotton tapes: One at the neckline and one at the waistline. The fabric used for this dress is a finely combed Batiste cotton. This gown is approximately 6 months size however, please see measurements below for correct fit.
