FASHION DESIGNER- SYBIL CONNOLLY
Sybil Connolly (1921-1998)

Connolly's design philosophy was in keeping with that of Hubert de Givenchy, whose work was a source of inspiration for her. Elegance without sacrificing comfort, the finest craftsmanship, and attention to detail were the hallmarks of her work. She felt that a dress should show a woman's curves, saying, "I must see movement in a dress. A woman's body is inside. It breathes. It moves."

Unassuming at first glance, her clothes are famous for every design ingredient put into them from their shape-minded silhouettes to their perfection of detail And proportion

Ms. Connolly.had an impressive list of clients from prominent families such as the Rockefellers, Mellons and Duponts, to famous actresses of the day, she also designed the linen dress that Jacqueline Kennedy wore in her White House portrait and who elevated Irish style to high fashion

Sibil Connolly is one of the first leaders of Irish couture, she has merited widespread recognition beyond her native Ireland that stands to this day
