UltraLayer is engineered as a high performing underlayment that delivers acoustic and insulating performance under ceramic and porcelain tile and most natural stone. It features randomly air-laid filaments that create a capillary effect to cushion the floor, dampening ambient sound in the room where it is installed and minimizing impact and airborne sound from traveling to the room below. Sporting insulating qualities, UltraLayer similarly adds an R-value of 0.42 to the floor assembly that will keep floors warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. With its 0.10 in. thickness, UltraLayer is firm enough to support the overlying floor yet flexible enough to form around sub-floor roughness so minor imperfections are smoothed before the finish floor is laid. Because of its fibrous dense composition, UltraLayer is a great solution to a constant issue with tile cracking from subfloor movement below. UltraLayer inhibits lateral concrete subfloor cracks up to 1/4 in. from telegraphing through to the tile or grout above. UltraLayer is a hypoallergenic underlayment and treated with an anti-microbial additive which will not promote mold growth in a circumstance with any outstanding moisture in the flooring. In addition, UltraLayer is VOC-free and odorless which has been independently certified for safe indoor air-quality standards. It is warranted for a period of 15 years. Installed as a rollout, UltraLayer comes in 100 sq. ft. rolls.
