Taylor Wang (b. 1940), a China-born U.S. citizen, was a payload specialist on the STS-51 mission of Space Shuttle Challenger (April 29-May 6, 1985). Working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Cal Tech, he invented an acoustic levitation and manipulation chamber, which he then used to perform drop dynamics experiments in space.
