I am thrilled to present this exquisite, extraordinary necklace. It is one of a kind, hand welded silver and Baltic amber jewel with insect inclusion.

The amber pendant is large, free form and has colour of a golden honey. The amber piece was gently heat treated to obtain this rich hue. Thermal treatment of amber is very common. The majority of amber on the market is heated to improve quality and to intensify colour. However not all treatments are equal. Please refer to my Amber Guide for further details.

The pendant has length of 55 mm and it is beautifully set in sterling silver vine leaves.
The chain is also hand crafted in sterling silver. The piece was made in 1980s.

Unique design is not the only thing that makes this necklace special. The back of the amber reveals a large insect inclusion (approx. 12 mm large). It looks like a mosquito. It can be viewed on a third picture. What makes it even more interesting is that a part of the mosquito is inside the amber and a part of it is on the surface allowing interesting view of something that looks like fossilized inside of the mosquito body - fascinating!
There are also various dark inclusions that look to be plant derived.

There are no hallmarks but it was tested positively for silver.
