Story Behind the Art:
Ashanti, a GIA certified (Gemological Institute of America) Graduate Gemologist and a Designer was born in the exotic island of Sri Lanka. Growing up in the hill capital, Kandy, as a young adult, a talent for designing jewelry prompted her to launch her own brand ASHANTI, and harness the talents of skilled local women to make these items of jewelry in their homes. She says, "Drawing inspiration from the local culture, I design for the modern woman wherever in the world she may and this is what I offer my customers with each carefully handcrafted item of the ASHANTI collection. The artists are given a fair monthly salary and not paid by the piece to maintain its quality. My artists are happy and and they love what they do.
My goal in life is to live a peaceful and a stress-free life, enriched by helping others. This is my vision and passion and I love designing and being able to help someone else better their lives.
