Huipils from this region are known for the brightly colored geometric patterns that often feature squares and diamonds, which represent the four principal directions of East, West, North, and South. The spirals included represent the levels of Mayan reincarnation and the colors are intentionally color bled on to the white base, a feature that is specific to Nahualá.
