Great for mixed kids’ hair!
I have a marvelously thick, coarse afro. I was looking for edge control, without having to resort to using an alcohol based, drying gel. Needless to say that, even after slathering on a bunch of this product on wash day and tightly wrapping my hair until dry, it didn’t work. After a couple of hours, it looked as if I hadn’t used anything. I was fortunate that it didn’t flake, but, sadly, it didn’t give me the hold that I was looking for. So... why a 4 star rating, you ask?As it turns out, this gel is AMAZING for my toddler son’s hair! His hair is transitioning from completely straight to wavy with some curls at the end. He’s too young to sit still for his first haircut, so Alikay Naturals brought me 4-6 months! It works better than mousse or regular gel, which is drying. The Aloe Vera leaves his hair nice, smooth, and detangled.I’ve included pictures of us, for reference. I hope this helps! I’m obviously Black, and my son is of mixed heritage (black/white).

Not sure what hair type I am prolly 4a or 4c looks the most identical but I spray my hair with water add some hydration milk or any kind of leave in then add this styling gel. I do it myself and i suck so it’s hard for me to really get all the areas but the areas I am able to apply the gel & brush it down works great. It never leaves any flakes or anything. I had emailed their corporate offices to ask for full list of ingredients because I noticed it said “key ingredients” and they assured me that was all that was in the hair gel. As far as the hold I’d give it a 7 out of 10. It’s cheaper on their website but their shipping is $7. I’m only returning mine because the seal had been comprised on arrival and these days you can’t risk it. I would highly recommend this product for its ability plus all natural & organic ingredients..
