Love these boots! I normally wear a 8.5-9. I originally ordered 8.5, but my heel slipped out, even with a substantial sock. I exchanged for the 8, and they fit great. Mind you, I am still breaking them in - they squeeze my toes a bit - but I adore the look. I am hopeful that they will be completely broken in before too long. UPDATE: I have had these boots for almost 2 years. I generally only wear them fall/winter, and sporadically at that. They have broken in somewhat, but they still pinch my toes. I have an average width foot. On the plus side, they still look great! They are an extremely well-made boot.

I really wanted to like these boots, they are made in the US and I've been wanting a pair of their motorcycle harness boots for a while, in a simple color and leather finish. I got these on Prime Day for a great price. I really wanted the 12r or 15r but decided to give these a try.

The color and leather are nice but the proportions are very weird on the 8r and made my ankles look huge. The shaft opening was also so large that I could see the top of my foot inside the boot. I looked like a toddler trying on dad's boots. Finally there was a very painful ridge inside both heels. I've tried on the 12r and 15r and didn't feel this inside those boots. Maybe it was just a defect on this pair. Thy were too painful to have on my feet much less walk in. Returned. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a pair of 12r or 15r on sale sometime. I think this style really needs the taller shaft to be in proportion.

I bought a half size larger to accommodate heavy socks and putting them on was almost impossible. A side zipper would have helped. I wish they would have fit better, I hated to send them back. Perhaps a good stretching might help with the difficult foot entry.

Can't go wrong with Frye!!! However, this boot runs a bit big.......might want to order a half size down. If you have a problem with heavy shoes, these boots may not suit you....they are very durable, but on the heavier side too.

I must say I was a little bit concerned about purchasing these because I got them for half the price they normally cost but with free returns I figured I had nothing to lose. I have many pairs of Frye boots and depending on the fit I am sometimes an 8 and other times 81/2. I purchased these in 8 color medium brown. The box they came in was a little scuffed up but the boots themselves are in beautiful condition. As soon as I put them on they fit like a glove- just perfect. The leather is of the best quality as it usually is with Frye, I love the color and the fact that they are so versatile. I know they will last a lifetime. Highly recommend these boots especially if you can buy them here at a discounted price like I did!

This is a novel experience! I ordered a pair of Frye boots that I had saved up for. To my shock, they mailed me two boots of different SIZES, with neither one the actual size that I ordered. Further, there was no packing slip in the box, so that it's difficult to know how or where to return the boots.

I'm still waiting to hear from the vender, after sending an email via Amazon. One of the disadvantages of this system is that with Amazon as the intermediary, it's hard to resolve problems with the actual seller. I would have to recommend against using Amazon for purchases at this point. I've really never had a retail experience this bad.

I ordered these boots with the 20% off offer so i saved quite a bit, although they are still quite expensive. The first pair i ordered, with the free super-saver delivery which i have used before & it is usually really quick but with these, i was waiting 8 days so beware!
The 1st pair which arrived, well, the leathers didn't match, 1 boot was a fairly smooth leather & the other foot was a really large pebbled grainy leather! They were a brand new fresh pair but i have heard that this is often the case with this brand. This is the first pair of Frye boots i have bought & so i read loads of reviews about them before ordering a pair. The size was tricky, luckily i have a shop local to me which sell this exact boot, they only had a size UK 5 or UK 7 left, i tried the 7 which is what i usually am & they felt big, like loose on the heal & slipping whilst i walked round the shop, so because or this & from reading other reviews, i guessed i needed them in a UK 6.
So i ordered these boots in the 6 & heard nothing from Amazon for about 2-3 days, usually they show as being in the process of being picked/packed or awaiting dispatch but none of this was showing so i messaged Amazon about it, they looked into my order & actually discovered that the stock for the size UK 6's was actually wrong, & they didn't actually have any to send, & they didn't know when any stock would be arriving, this is the first time after all these years of buying on Amazon, that this has happened, so as you can guess, i wasn't too pleased, especially as i had used the 20% off on them too, making them a lot cheaper!
Anyway, i went back to my local store & tried on the 7's again & they also had a 6 in the calf leg 12R version in another colour which i tried. Well, the 6's were soooooo small, REALLY narrow & when i did eventually push my feet in, it pushed the heel section down into the boot as they were so small & i just about managed to hobble round the shop floor in them! they were SO uncomfortable, there would be absolutely no way i could have worn a 6. I don't have a high instep or a particularly wide foot either.
I'm really glad i tried them on, that way i knew that a UK 7 was the right size for me. I asked the girl in the shop about the slippage at the backs & she said that as you wear them, where the foot bends at the backs just above your heals, this makes a crease in the leather of the boot & as this shapes to your foot it stays in shape & holds onto the back of your foot as you walk & then they won't slip-it all made sense to me then as i couldn't understand how if a boot was slipping to start with, how would it stop as they get worn in because boots normally stretch when they are leather?!
I didn't buy the pair in the shop because for one they were more expensive than on here (with the offer) & two, the grain of the leathers didn't match on each foot & i am quite fussy about things like that especially when you are paying a lot of money, i want to be happy with them!
Anyway, with this knowledge, i got home & cancelled my first order for the size 6's & re-ordered the size 7's, i waited the 8 days for delivery of them, then they arrived & had to go back because the leathers didn't match (LOL) i requested a replacement pair & asked Amazon to upgrade the delivery service because of the 1st pair being out of stock, the 2nd pair not matching & the fact that they were for my birthday which was actually the very next day, if everything went swimmingly, i'd have had them in time, but Amazon were very good with getting back to me very quickly & did upgrade my delivery f.o.c as goodwill. The 2nd pair arrived as promised. I still had hold of the first pair just incase i needed to swop the pairs about to get a 'perfect' matching pair. Glad i did as guess what, 1 of the boots had a few flaws on it which i wasn't happy with, but i did get a fabulous pair of boots out of the 2 pairs!!! I know people rave about the quality of Frye boots BUT i think there are a few things which could be improved, but that's probably me being overly fussy & particular! The other pair went back yesterday, f.o.c to the shop just down the road, the returns are so very easy, that's the great thing about Amazon, it is hassle free when things go wrong. If i had gone with the other reviews on the size, they would have been too small, if i were you, then order your normal size, i'm glad Amazon had no 6's, a blessing in disguise! The leather is good & thick & the linings are really cushioned, sort of like memory foam, i absolutely love the look of them. Since ordering these on Amazon, i have also bought the Harness 12R in black off eBay (BNIB) & the Harness 12R in the dark brown distressed leather, also off eBay & also BNIB!! that's it now, i'm hooked! not buying anymore though, i think these 3 pairs will last me years :O)

Frye boots are fabulous. They are made so well and last years. Every year or so I check the sales to see if I can add another pair to my collection. I've had my eye on this style and got them at a great price. These are a deep brown which goes with anything as black would. Here's how they fit... I have a medium width foot. If you have a wide foot this is not for you. I followed the advice of other reviews and purchased 1/2 size down from my normal US size and they're perfect. You can smell, feel and see the quality of leather in this boot. I'll have to leave these in my will as they will outlast me.
