Big and Beautiful is one way to describe this timepiece. Invicta has released a very appealing Skeleton Watch that although doesn't have Swiss Movement still works like a charm.

This piece, a skeleton watch with both back and front views, is aesthetically amazing. It does not need 24K Gold, Diamonds and a whole bunch of Swarovski Crystals embedded everywhere, it seems that the more "blingy" a watch looks the better it will sell in this current market. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact it's the simplicity of watching time tick away that leaves you feeling satisfied with the Invicta 1091 Russian Diver Skeleton.

My reasoning for giving this watch a 4 star review is mainly due to it's striking pose, combine that with an affordable price which swayed me to change this to 5 stars. You get a great watch for an even better price - I paid $130 for mine, the MSRP of $1395 is quite off but the MSRP for nearly all of Invicta's pieces are by no means a guide to the value of the watch.

The watch does not scratch easily, it has had 3 months of wear, and I would wear it at least once a week, I would wear it more often than normal if it wasn't so big, if you have a small wrist or if you have not seen a Invicta Russian Diver in person, you may want to reconsider as this watch truly is a beast, so much so that it took at least a month of wear until I felt comfortable having what felt like a couple of pounds on my wrist.

Also of note is this watch and it's huge crown, annoyingly if you do not put the watch on properly and it slips loosely on your wrist you will find that the crown and it's massive cap, connected by a chain, will hit your wrist and can be quite uncomfortable. This problem would also arise if your wrist was too small.

Fortunately I had a number of Russian Divers and know how big they are so this was not an issue.

In conclusion Invicta have laid down a solid foundation of Skeleton Watches that look the part, this model may not have the luxury of Swiss Movement but the manual wind is not so bad and it keeps time well.

You would be hard pressed to find a large watch like this with Skeleton features front and back for less than $150, if you can, good luck to you.

First impressions:

The packaging is nice, comes in a nice yellow box with lots of padding on the inside.

Now for the watch: this thing is beautiful. The black outer frame is offset nicely by the white ring around the skeleton opening. The hands of the watch are easy to see, yet elegant enough to not overwhelm the rest of the design. There is a second-hand on the left which ticks nicely along. You definitely have to wind this watch daily, takes anywhere from 20-30 winds before you hit the resistance point. The crown-cover works beautifully.

The first time I put the watch on I had a hard time with the strap: it is made of a very durable rubber-like material, and getting it closed was an issue the first time. However the more I wear the watch the loser it gets, and is now easier to take on / off. If you are having trouble with the strap do this: Slide the 2 sliding elements all the way to the left (closest to the bracket), then tuck the strap through both at the same time, and re-adjust them afterwards.

My only minor complaint with this watch would be that the chain connecting the crown-cap to the actual watch could be designed slightly more discreetly (or be a tiny bit shorter), however is not enough of an issue for me to knock a star off.

 Ok, I decided to write the review I wish I would have read before ordering. First off, I absolutely love this watch. You will stare at it, and so will others. That I can promise you. However, coming from a GSHOCK that I cant even tell I'm wearing (even in the Xlarge sizes) This watch is ridiculously uncomfortable to wear. While my girlfriend complains about taking off her high heels at the end of the day I am equally as relieved when I get to pull this watch off at the end of the day. The watch slides down to your wrist while walking thus making it impossible to bend your wrist due to the huge knob on the side. You deal with it, because the watch is so amazing to look at. It's heavy enough to pull the skin down on my arm while walking. I really wish they made this in a left handed model so I could actually use my wrist again without it digging into my tendons on the back side of my hand. The closest is the russian divers 1846 left handed model, but it's 5mm smaller. The wrist band is very stiff and I'm hoping it will break in. Long story short? It sucks to wear... Actually, This watch reminds me of my girlfriend. A lot of BS, but you deal with it because she looks so good on your arm.

If you are looking for an awesome timepiece that is like wearing art on your wrist...this is the watch for you. It is a very big watch so do take a look at the picture with the measurements as it does take up a lot of room on your wrist (I knew it was big going into it but if you are not expecting it you should look at the scale). The quality is great and it feels like you should have paid more than you did. Mine works great and tells accurate time...I even ordered the same watch in a different color I liked it so much. When wound I have found that it works for the whole day and then some. Not loud at all. Be aware that the crown does stick out a good deal and you have to be careful when flexing your wrist while wearing it. Overall a great buy and will get attention!

This was a hit! I did so good for christmas this year! As soon as he opened it he loved it! He had been looking for an invicta for a while but he was concerned they would be too small for him. He is a big man and his wrists are large. This watch looks amazing on him! It is large like people say but it is an AWESOME large. I have worn it on days when he forgets it or wears something else.
