First item had a physically sagging focus point selector and would not select the down direction. Amazing that QA (there is QA?) did not detect this. Sagging was visible even before I put it on camera.
I decided to return and order a second because the grip itself is extremely solid physically. Attaches solidly to camera with no flex and focus selector (in the directions that worked, in any case) felt like OEM. The front and rear control dials felt a little cheap (think Nikon D3400) but were not terrible. Overall, it looked OEM. Minor glitch, however, is that the camera sometimes showed 7fps (with an EN EL18 inside) and other times showed 9fps.
The second initially seemed much better. Everything worked and 9fps was displayed consistently with an EN EL18 inside. However, after about a day the top camera LCD display would sometimes flash on and off with the grip attached. Removing and reattaching the EN EL18 reset it. However, a few days later this happened again, this time accompanied by a loud electrical relay-like clicking sound.
Removed quickly from camera and returned. Don't trust this on a $3.3k camera.
The Good: Giving this 2 stars only based on how it looks. It's honestly kind of amazing how much it looks like the body of the D850, it's a pretty seamless look between the body and the grip.
The bad: At first open, the batter door has a pretty unhealthy grinding sound to it. Nothing that hinders use, but a bit weird. When I first connected this to my camera body (D850), it connected and was accepted by the body but the focus point jog wheel was completely dead. Weirdly enough, after about 10 minutes, presto, it started working out of the blue. Super weird. Overall, the button feel and the jog wheel feel pretty dang cheep. You can see the inside circuitry through the gaps of the jog wheel. Forget weather, if someone is just drinking water in the same room as this grip, expect water damage.
The reason I returned the grip: While shooting a session the other day, using the grip's shutter release, my camera would completely freeze giving an error message and leaving the shutter open. A second shutter release would close the shutter, but I would have to power cycle to use the camera again. I removed the grip, and my camera went back to normal, no further shutter issues. Really disappointing that the grip can't even be used to just trigger the camera reliably, forgetting all of the other issues.
But hey it works.
I'm revising my review. This grip has a problem working with the camera and appears to cause a mirror lockup ERR message and locks the shutter. Vello has now released a battery grip for the D850 and my previous experience with Vello grips will lead me there. Even after buying two grips I'm spending less than half the price of the Nikon grip.

No issues, so far so good!
This grip fits perfectly my D850, has a good and solid feel, all controls work fine and the remote is a nice bonus, my problem with this grip is that I also bought 2 DSTE Full Coded 11.1V 3900mAh EN-EL18A ENEL18A, while the fit perfectly in MB-D12 and Meike MK-D500 as MB-D17 I have a really hard time inserting them in this grip, a bit disappointing especially since booth products are manufactured by DSTE.
This combo does not give the extra 2fps.
