Material Degrades Quickly Over Time in UV and Breaks off
I bought these tabs a few years ago when I re-screened all the frames on my windows, the first time after about 15 years. These tabs did not last a couple of years in the cycle of winter and summer, and under UV light from the sun. When I tried to remove the screens at the end of the year for the winter, or for cleaning, I found the tabs had become very brittle. The tabs snapped off at the base when pulling on them to remove the screen, and the piece that broke off just cracks and crumbles to smaller pieces under a little finger pressure. The nylon or other material used in this application of screen pulls is very poor and degrades quickly. All the re-screening work I had done on 18 windows was wasted because, of course, the tabs are embedded under the screen material in the frame. I now have screens with no tabs on them and must use a thin spatula to lift and try to pull out without damaging the screening. Or I need to re-screen 18 windows again with different tabs after only a couple of years of use. I do not recommend these tabs unless you plan to re-screen again in a couple of years.
