I decided to try a couple different ribbon manufacturers for my Olympia SM3 and Monica de Luxe typewriters. I've included a page sample from this ribbon and another manufacturer. (Sorry, but this is the only sample I still have of the other ribbon manufacturer, and I wasn't going to swap out ribbons again just to type a better sample.)These EBS ribbons leave a more crisp impression on the page, are inked perfectly, and come with the metal eyelets near the end of each spool.The other ribbon I tried was too heavily inked, the ribbon material left smudged, fuzzy letters, and they didn't have the metal eyelets.

These ribbons are great! I have an old Underwood typewriter that belonged to my grandfather. I think it's a No. 5 model from 1923.
My old ribbon was from the 1980s and it was pretty dry and printed faintly. Wow! What a difference! These are very inky and make great letters! I had looked at some other ribbons on Amazon and some of the reviews were mixed. This one seemed the most promising. Apparently this company produces these frequently and they aren't just old stock that's been sitting around for years. These are definitely great ribbons. I had to wash my hands twice as I was putting these in the typewriter because they were so inky! .....but that's a good thing : )
