Initial disappointment but may try again

Initial disappointment but may try again
So I’ll start by saying these are my first service style boots. Was excited to receive them but after trying them on and inspecting them I was a bit disappointed. I had seen plenty of praise online for these and multiple guys I work with rock these on the job site. The box was unmarked so maybe I got a fake? But they had the Belleville tags on the eyelets so idk.For starters the upper has this absolutely massive tongue.. not sure why. It folds and rolls over and is quite uncomfortable against the shin. Could take half an inch off each side and would fit better. Otherwise pretty comfy and materials look solid. The sole is also decent, vibram. Looks good.Width, arch support all decent. Removable insole which is nice. The midsole though? Awful, tons of rubber molding marks that were unfinished and this weird spotting all along it. Kinda looks like a cheap boot from Payless or Walmart. Shocking quality imo.. nothing like what I’ve seen on my friends boots.Lastly the heel cup. I wear a size 10-10.5 in sneakers and ordered a size 9.5. I maybe could’ve done size 9 but would’ve had to wear thinner socks I think. Anyway fit for the 9.5 was great however the heel cup is nonexistent. Does not lock your heel in whatsoever no matter how hard I tighten up the boots. Would’ve been blister city.Perhaps I had my expectations too high however I was disappointed. Would be willing to give it a second go if I can go to a physical store and try on and inspect the other pairs in person. In 5-6 years as a prime member this will sadly be the first time I’m forced to return something :( Usually I just make it work or modify but the quality and fit just didn’t seem up to par on this specific pair. Bummer.

Some reviews stated, "order up 1 size". They are WRONG. 10.5 wide is my exact size (size ordered) and they fit perfectly. If I had intended them for use in winter or "basic training" or some reason I'd wear extra socks or inserts, I would suggest 1/2 size big. But for warm weather, routine use, order the size that fits! Quality is EXCELLENT. Very little break-in needed, like about 2 miles walking and they feel great! I'm happy to buy american and I'll never go back to Magnums..

The boots look just as they do in a picture. Boots run true to size. I’ve scratched these up a few times gave me good shine in her back to good shape (not new of course). The only thing I will warn is that these boots are heavy. I don’t mind that at all. They look good with any denim dark jeans or work clothes you might put on overall I do recommend.

I already knew that tip before buying this pair, but just wanted to share.

I bought these for my dad to replace the same old ones I gave him a few years back. He raved about the cushioning that your foot sits on, and how comfortable it is. He is a machinist, so he is on his feet standing or walking around the shop 10+ hrs a day. He has been doing that for 30+ years, and he tells me he has never had a more comfortable boot in his life. I only gave him my old ones from my time in the AF, they were well used by the time I let him try them. He liked them so much, he had them re-soled 3 times before needing new ones.
I guess I never realized how nice we had it in the military with these boots. My dad had tried probably 25 different pairs of boots or more since becoming a machinist and he says BY FAR these are the best he's ever had.
So I got these for him recently, and Belleville, you've got a customer for life. He loves the cushioning that is very comfortable to walk around in all day, he loves the "speed lacing and unlacing" that lets him speed up putting them on and off, and the leather's durability, and the steel toe of course. Also they require very little "break-in", if any at all. I only ever needed about a day before they fit my feet just right, and they felt like I'd owned them for months already. Excellent product, keep it up Belleville!

I bought these for my husband because he needed a new pair to wear when he is on an ambulance. He had these same boot previously and really liked them. He still likes them and they fit him just like they should but he did say that the sole seems much harder than the last new pair he bought. He wore them around the house for a while before wearing them to a 12 hours shift but even after breaking them in a little his feet were really hurting after work. He took the soles out and put in a pair of sole from another pair of boots he had and he said it did help a lot. He is hoping they will soften up after a while to be able to put the original insoles back in.

Awesome work boots for the summer. I added some boot bumpers and they are completely perfect. Not so much in the way of being waterproof but that is to be expected with the vents. No bother for me it's not why I bought them. The fit is a tad large but I added an extra insole and it solves the problem and adds to the comfort level. Not that they weren't comfortable in the first place but the extra insoles adds to it. The nylon fabric underneath the laces took my feet, a bit, to get used to but now, after a few of months, it's not a bother at all and the boots are very comfortable. The steel toe feels almost non-existent. The soles are tough. I work in some extreme environments and wear soles out in a matter of months in other brands. The tread and heel on these are still going on strong with minimal wear. I walk and climb in these constantly. Minuscule wear and fraying is detected in the threads but that could be from errant sparks and fire that the boots have come in contact with. With that said ALL boots I've worn have done this so no biggie. Teflon stitching? Just throwing it out there. My concern was with the nylon mixed with sparks which is now is non-factor since nothing during my normal use at work has not effected them. They keep my feet relatively cool and comfortable. When these wear out I will, indeed, buy another pair.

I'm completely civilian and bought these boots for hiking and trekking, as well as when my job occasionally calls for heavy lifting when I want to make sure I have a strong foothold. I did a lot of research before making my purchase and am so glad I chose these. Living in Central Florida means very hot, muggy temperatures but the panels allow my feet to breathe. I spent a few days when I first got them wearing them for normal use (i.e. just walking about normally, no long tabs or anything) just so I could break them in, now I feel I can wear them no matter how far I walk.

I've had them maybe a year now (bit behind on my reviews!) and have had no sign of anything coming apart or coming loose on the construction of the boot. Granted I'm not wearing them every day, but from what I can tell these are really great, hard core, rugged boots to wear for any use at all. I even wore them to a theme park so I wouldn't have to worry about my feet getting tired - perfect!

I thought to myself that the people who professionally walk the most would be the military, who also have the largest research budget so I'm sure some thought would have gone into the most important part of their kit - these are a long cry from the painful BCH's I used to wear as an Air Cadet in the UK (used german para boots, ugh!!), made of stiff solid leather and broken in by someone else.

These are my boots.
