After trying a non OEM part, I bought this one. It was easy to install. Works great, but did not solve the freezing up and water leaking into the fridge.

The problem was that the thermostat needed to be reset in both the refrigerator and the freezer to mid-range operating temperature. After the temperature adjustment, the water is draining.

I hope this review will help someone to get their problem fixed more quickly than we did.

This part and a couple of other parts sold on Amazon are good to try if the temperature fix does not work. I am happy to know that I have a new defrost thermostat that works and should not need to be replaced soon on an older refrigerator!

Bought this for a hand me down fridge from a friend to put in the garage. It does work fine. ****very helpful tip**** The instructions are horrible for the pigtail. There are 3 ways to set up the pigtail depending on your fridge. Skip ahead a few pages and look for the wire colors you have on the connector and it will tell you what setup is needed. This will save you a ton of time!

Instructions with had me thinking I had wrong part. Said it needed to go on one of the other terminals on this part.

This is a little smaller that the original with the same part number but functions fine. The only problem is the mounting holes are much larger and the original self tapping screws did not work. It was PITA as I did not have a selection of screws in my truck and attempts to insert wood or other fillers in the holes to get the original screws to grip, did not work to . You can see in the pictures how big the holes are. Two trips for the repair. Whats up with Whirlpool these days?? Three stars.

Defrosts every 24 hours so after 2 days of no defrost I finally got the 3rd try correct. Oh BTW I work in electronics for a living. Definitely if self installing, have patience or a degree in EE. I have not attempted to install the timer device I received. I have concerns about the part that was sent to me and I'm not 100% certain the old timer is bad. My low rating for this product is due to several observations.
1) It arrived with no instructions but this device must be configured. It can replace several different timers.
2) Most internet pictures show the timer shipping with mounting hardware. None was shipped with mine.
3) The ad indicated this is a "Whirlpool" device (made by or for Whirlpool). There is no way to identify where this thing was made, who made it, or who it was made for. No whirlpool markings, no UL, no CSA, no nothing. I think the part shipped is a cheap knock-off and I'm not in any hurry to install it.

Be careful when you order this part to make certian you are getting the quality part you expect. I think I just got burned.
