Install is simple
It is simple to install. Decent how to videos online however most of the steps are not needed. The locking endcaps dont really lock or do anything. The lock will let you turn the key 360 degrees however then the pins holding the locking mechanism falls out. Dont bother removing these.Pull back 3" of the rubber stripping on each side. Remove outboard screw completely. Losen inboard screw.Set metal piece in track, make sure rubber seal is in place on the bottom of the base, install outboard screw removed earlier. Hand tighten. Repeat on other side. Then torque down for final assembly. Use German torque specifications = Goodntight(Blue locktight recommended).2 bars = 5 min install in the parking lot.Pro tip: no small step ladder? Just stand on the back tire. Not like OSHA is going to come inspect you.

I am not a practical person so find this kind of thing quite arduous usually. This was simple. Only a few pieces to assemble. A really easy video to watch that I scanned via my phone and it all fitted together perfectly. Really easy and I was pleasantly surprised. It also bore the weight of some heavy ladders and bindings and did not move or buckle at all. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who needs a simple, practical and easy solution. And at a great price.

Ok so all the reviews say they are a nightmare to install. Yes, the directions are lacking. Yes, the video skips the most important part. No, they are not hard to install once you learn the trick.
See the image of the bottom with one bolt. That is the other end of the outside bolt. It loosens the metal "feet" that connect to the rails. Loosen it until the nut is about flush with the bolt. Loosen the inside bolt a few turns to give you enough room to tilt the riser.

Once you do that, they just slip right on. Adjust foward and back, adjust the bar to be centered, and tighten the outside bolt, then the inside bolt.

Done.

Crossbars were very easy to install (less than 30 minutes) and the instructions are very easy to follow. We use a wind deflector for towing our trailer and it attached very easily to the newly installed crossbars. Was even easier than on my old vehicle that came with crossbars when purchased. Would highly recommend the product. Wife loves the look and I love the utility they offer.

The bars look great! 5 stars for the install and look. Road test not completed yet.

So... I read the reviews, very helpful thanks everyone. I echo some of the comments - make sure you know what goes where and which screws to adjust. Took me about 30 min to install with a couple mistakes and the allen wrench is just slow in general.

Here are my tips for anyone looking to purchase and worried about the install.

-The 2 bars are different sizes. The longer one goes in front and the shorter one goes in back.

-The direction is also important. Hard to indentify, but the shorter angle faces the front and the longer angle faces the back.

-You will have to peel the rubber strip back on the top of the bars to expose the screws. Very slightly loosen the inside screw so you can expand the feet. Then take the outside screw completely off (be careful as the pieces will come apart). When the outside screw is out, the metal bracket and rubber protector will come off. Line up the metal bracket on the roof track making sure both lips grab the track. Then put the plastic guard down over the bracket and the feet of the bars go on top of that. Screw in the outside screws and adjust as needed. Tighten all screws and press the rubber strip down to cover the screws. Done.

I really don’t understand the keys.. I couldn’t get them to do much, but again don’t know what they are needed for.

Can’t wait to test these out! Hope this helps.

Leaving 1 star because I just wasted almost two hours installing this product because the company is too lazy to provide real instructions (see picture). Grammatical mistakes and sloppiness aside, I had no idea what a “left or right” crossbar meant considering cross bars are arranged “front and back”. The use of obscure nuts sizes forced me to use the key provided (instead of the proper socket on a drill, which would have saved at least 30 minutes) which didn’t fit at least one of the bolts. I had no idea what the procedure as described meant (including what “OE” is), nor did they make any sense when studied with help from at least one user here. The QR code links to a silent video that is equally unhelpful. So, one half page of instructions (including two Step 1’s), a parts list that isn’t helpful, grammar and spelling mistakes, and a QR code that links to a video that doesn’t help.

I liked how the concept of putting it on was really easy as in just having to loosen a couple screws but the problem is with the locks. 3 out of the 4 locks that come on the sides had a piece that broke out of the inside and the key was not easy to turn. Was still able to get them locked down but am concerned if I have to take them off and put back on in the future the locks might be shot. Would probably be worth it to spend a little more and get something better

Installed these cross bars on my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, perfect fit. Instructions weren't easy to follow, but YouTube video was very helpful. Drove 800+ miles, with large cargo carrier attached, no issues. Drove through 80mph+ winds, no issues. Highly recommend.
