Product Description

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

This is the second pair of this particular model of Asics that I've purchased. The last pair was fine; I liked them well enough to buy another pair. Well, I've only been wearing them for about four months and already the soles are splitting. They felt uncomfortably narrow at first, and they wore out a lot faster than any other athletic shoes I've ever owned. Also, the treads are rather wide, allowing big pieces of gravel to become lodged in between--a great way to scuff up hardwood floors if you have them. I won't be buying these again.

Got these for a friend, like others said these shoes have a harder sole than normal Asics shoes but they are still very nice looking & great buy for the price (about $40). I'm sure you could do some running in these shoes even though they are cheap they don't look like they could run.
