*UPDATE*I have had these shoes for 4 months now, and they have held up to serious hikes through shale and rocks, and even through mud and water. Also, they hold up well to horse poop ;)I have had these shoes for a couple months now, and I am really impressed. I treked through mud, high water, and all kinds of dirt so far. My feet stayed dry for the most part. I could feel the cool water through them, but to be fair, it was snowy mountain water. At first, I was thrown off by these 'boots' not having an insole in them, so I put one in myself. DO NOT DO THAT! My feet poured sweat and the shoes were way too tight. Also, at first, they did feel a little loose in the toe, but after about a week or so that feeling went away and they fit perfect. I had a pair of proterra goretex as my last hiking shoes, and I still have the normal proterra's which I included in the pics for comparison. The pics do not show it very well, but the soles are a little wider on the All Out Blaze's. Overall, they are a little more bulky than the proterra shoes. Merrell has stopped making the proterra's and since then put out three different versions of shoes just like them. They all look terrible. I really did not NEED shoes, but I wanted to try these as soon as I saw them because i figured Merrell would discotinue them in 3 months like they do all their other good shoes.Overall, I am impressed. I expected water to get through on the first try. But these shoe boots held up pretty good. I do not expect them to hold up for years, but that's okay. If they had a vent version of these shoes that was not waterproof and still a mid fit, I would have gotten those. If you are worried about your feet stinking, I'd recommend buying something to put in your shoes every night. Nothing you can do about that. However, I will say that it's not that bad. I have already worn them on 90 degree days while hiking and my feet did just fine. You can always expect a little moisture with waterproof shoes, but these are not going to keep your feet drenched in sweat. Check out the pics for reference after a couple months use. I should also state that I have used a boot brush to clean them off a couple times too, and they held up just fine to that as well.

My first time ordering shoes online and wearing Merrell. I went on a cruise in Alaska with some hiking planned. The recommendation was shoes that were waterproof, lightweight, and comfortable to wear on trails. My dad has used Merrell before and my brother-in-law swears by them (he stands on his feet most of the day and raves about their support and I believe he's said he won't wear anything else). I've also had a preference for the "mid" sized shoes as they help prevent things like rocks from "jumping" into my shoes. These shoes seemed to fit the recommendations so I bought them.

They worked perfectly and as advertised: I had no problems walking through wet grass, on rocky terrain, or staying on my feet all day. My feet stayed dry, I never really noticed anything I was walking on as my feet felt cushioned, and because they felt cushion, my feet didn't feel achy despite standing for 6+ hours on some days.

One of the hardest things about shoe shopping is everyone seems to have a different sizing. I'm typically a 10.5, but sometimes I've had to use a 10 or 11 so I was worried about ordering online. Honestly, the sizing felt spot on for these shoes. I ordered the 10.5 and they fit me perfectly. It was a snug, but not tight fit. I never felt like my feet were constricted, but I never felt like my shoes would fall off at a moment's notice (or that they would chafe my heels like some shoes I've worn in the past have).

These are my first pair of Merrell shoes. I've had them for just about one week now and have worn them indoors & outdoors in mostly 40-65 degree weather, with and without rain. Length of exposure has probably been no more than 15 minutes outside at a time. I have not yet taken them hiking.
Sizing: I almost always wear a size 8 in any New Balance shoes. I initially ordered these in an 8 and was quite surprised at how large they were. I returned those for a 7.5 which seem to be within the right zone. If this was an in-store purchase, I would have also checked out the size 7, just in case. Food for thought if you're a new customer to Merrell.
Function: These shoes seem to have incredible grip just walking around. They are definitely waterproof. We had a heck of a storm a few nights ago and I found a puddle that was probably a good 2-3" deep and my feet were still bone dry on the other side. As for durability, only time will tell, but they seem to be well made. I particularly like how wide the lacing pattern is on top of the shoe. This results in a much more secure fit and increased comfort. They are also fairly lightweight, especially for a waterproof shoe. I was impressed when I first held them.
Final thoughts: I would purchase these again. They have become my go-to shoe for general activities.

Great all around mid boot. A little snug on the top of the foot and a little roomy in the toes (not a negative). Very lightweight and comfortable. So far I have worn then all day at work on concrete floors, walking along rocky canal roads, at the park playing with the kids, and while wrenching on my truck all while just breaking them in the first couple weeks. So far they are great in all situations. Next will be steep rocky trails while offroading.

My only concern so far is the light duty looking lace loops.

I'm a Carhauler and do a ton of walking in all weather. I used to wear New Balance mid-tops because of comfort and having Gore-Tek waterproofing, but I'd replace them every 2 months or so. Then I found Merrell and never went back. I started off with the Ventilator and Moab (spell?) and found them extremely comfortable and durable. Now I've moved on to the All Out Blaze and thesethese are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, and I still have waterproof protection. During the winter I wear their Norsehund Omega, which I have to order from Canada.

Sizing runs a little small. I was an 11 in New Balance shoes, and had to bump myself up to a 12 in Merrell. Also the Blaze has a built-in footbed, no removable soul. It was weird the 1st time I tried it, but after 2 days I was sold. No more knee or ankle pain, no more foot cramps by my arches, and no more lower heal pain. Never had a shoe address all of those issues.

I'm also surprised that the shoes don't make my feet stink from sweating and walking. I sweat, but these breathe nicely and not 1 issue. I had a pair of CAT boots I'd have to Lysol daily.

I wouldn't say these are waterproof, but highly water resistant. Out of habit I hit my shoes with Scotch Guard. If you are constantly in water that goes past the footbed, you'll probably get a little damp, or if your pants get your socks wet it'll wick it into the shoe. With my rain gear on, I haven't gotten wet so far this year. Walking or hiking through wet grass or rain shouldn't be an issue.

Worked as described but it is not 100% waterproof, I would say water resistant at best. Went for a trip to Ecuador in the rainforest and it was fine in the jungle but when it rained, the shoe was soaked on the inside. But very comfortable and it was a great price.
