HY-C UL1618 Type 2 Stove Boards

HY-C Stove Board/Hearth Extender will protect the floor from heat and sparks in front of your fireplace or beneath, in front and around a wood burning appliance. Constructed of embossed printed steel over 1/2" thick, specially formulated fiber board to provide non-combustible thermal and ember protection. It may also be used as a wall shield to protect walls from intense heat.

Product Description

Stove boards are essential wood burning accessories that can be used beneath wood burning appliances or on the wall behind them to protect floors and walls from intense heat. The HY-C Type 2 UL1618 Stove Board provides non-combustible thermal and ember protection for floors and walls from the intense heat, hot coals, ashes and soot that wood burning appliances can produce. The construction is embossed printed steel and 1/2" thick, specially formulated fiber board backing. HY-C Connector Kit (Model #ULCK) and Wall Spacer Kit (Model #ULSK) sold separately to connect multiple stove boards and to install the stove board as a wall shield.

The color of this stove board is excellent! It’s sturdy without being too bulky or heavy. We bought this to meet zoning requirements of having a burn-resistant material in front of our masonry stove. This is fantastic! I tried to buy some at the local HD and even described what I wanted it for (to protect the wall behind a wood stove that didn't have enough clearance) and they attempted to sell me something that was labeled on the back as "Decorative Only."
This is the real stuff. The fire can be roaring away and if I feel behind the board the wall is the coolest part in the entire house. It does the job. It arrived undented and well packed.

This is a poorly made and overpriced item. I purchased one that arrived damaged due to it not being packaged in a way to protect it. The seller was decent and sent a replacement that also arrived with some damage but not as bad as the first one. I needed it so decided to keep it. After 3 months use in front of my wood stove, the backing broke apart and the cheap tin enclosure got all dented up. Save your money, this thing is garbage.

Stove board would have been great except it arrived banged up on corners and had a large crack in underlayment triangulating the corner. I suspect it is the fault of FedEx which I have received damaged goods from before. FedEx does not protect their packages very well. However, stove board is still usable and I need it.

As other reviewers have said, mine too arrived with a crushed corner. We just put that corner in the back. We have it on carpet and the corners curl up off the ground slightly from the weight of the pellet stove in the middle. Basically it is what I was expecting based on other reviews. But for the price it gets the job done. Satisfied with it.
