This is more a warning than a review. But first, these chukka's are beautiful. They seem well built and made of a wonderful soft leather. However, they might be a tad too narrow, as they are for me. If I were to buy them again I'd go a half size up.When I got these I was really excited, gave them a quick once over and fit. They felt slightly narrow, but I felt that might improve over time.I put them aside to wear that same night. And I did and they hurt. But that is not the problem. It's when I got home and took them off that I noticed something off with them. It seems that the leather especially on the front part of the shoes does not match on the left and right shoe. While it's the same soft type of leather, it's the structure of the leather that is very different. Now of course I know that no two pieces of leather will ever be exactly the same. However, anyone making a 300 dollar shoe should try his utmost to make sure that the leather on the left and right shoes within a pair are similar enough that they actually look like a pair.Mine aren't, not by a long shot. The left shoe has a very wrinkled/crumpled look about it, while the right shoe has a smooth surface. And while each shoe on it's own is wonderful to look at, be it wrinkled or smooth. Together they just don't make a pair. I've actually started to call these my Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Although Abbott & Costello or Laurel & Hardy also spring to mind. Yes I kind of feel like Bozo the Clown wearing these. OK, a bit harsh but still ...To be honest, I have the feeling that Amazon found a couple of boxes that have been lying on the shelves too long. Took out what was no longer usable and made new pairs with what was left. Then sold them at a discount. But that's just my feeling, no proof. I must say I am disappointed, I've always received good stuff from Amazon. In any case, having already worn them I didn't even bother with the complaint process (except for this 'review'). At least not yet.So the lesson here is, when you get your shoes contain yourself and give them a solid once over. Bend, twist and turn them (but don't break them), then put them on and try them out (on a soft carpet please!). If they pass scrutiny keep em, they're wonderful. If not put them back in the box and get your money back. 300 bucks is not nothing.UPDATESo I decided to contact Amazon about this issue. They were understanding and gave a few options.I opted for keeping the shoes (as I can still make somebody very happy with these) and half refund.Thank you Amazon.

I got the black ones with distressed leather. Unlike some pre-distressed products, the wear on each of these is unique, i.e. doesn't look like it came off an assembly line (and I suspect it didn't). It adds a nice character that pairs really well with jeans.

As for the design of the boots themselves, they fit great. I ordered a half size down from my normal shoe size (as such I marked them "somewhat large" in the fit category), but this is pretty normal for boots. There's some nice wiggle room for my toes (a necessity for boots), but they're still nice and snug across the middle with some opportunity for break-in. I have fairly narrow feet and I'm used to boots always either being too loose in the center/heel or too tight in the toes, but these seem perfect. They fit like boots should fit. They are slightly tricky to put on due to that snugness across the top, but that should break-in.

I've never had boots that fit this nicely. I like these so much that I may spring for a second pair with the chocolate nubuck leather.

this is an amazing shoe. the soften inside is just supper. i don't give this item 5-stars because of the sole. i believe the sole is a bit of unfinished properly, for this amount paid it should have a more detailed sole. i bought similar boot for To Boot New York, and i paid less and the finishes are amazing. but i do highly recommend this boot from Frye.

Frye has always been my go to shoe for years now.
Can't beat the quality and durability....they just get better with age.
Bought these to wear with my work suit, and needed something that would be comfortable, professional, and durable through the elements.
I am a pilot for large airline, so I needed a shoe that I could wear for 16 hrs plus a day.
These are PERFECT! HIGHLY recommend!

They also look great for my formal suit.

Only recently found the joy of owning Frye's now they are one of my favourite boot manufacturers. These fit slightly narrower than my 'Rand Lace' however nothing to complain about. These are my first Frye's made outside of the U.S (Mexico) and are of the same quality, beautiful supple leather, well made and a joy to walk in.
