I make and sell greeting cards to benefit our local library, and I've experimented with lots of different types of adhesive, including double-sided Scotch tape, all sorts of glues, and (on the high end) the  Xyron XRN900 9-Inch Creative Station Multi-Function Crafting System . Nothing works as well as my  Scotch CAT 085 Advanced Tape Glider with 2 Rolls of 1/4-Inch by 36-Yard Acid Free Tape,Cure Pink  with these .25" refill rolls.

Loading the rolls into the tape gliders is a bit tricky at first, but the glider comes with good directions. The only problem I've encountered is when I'm getting near the end of a roll: sometimes the adhesive doesn't want to leave the roll and stick to my paper. I have to roll it three or four times to get it started. Other than that, this adhesive roll will glide over ribbon, paper, and even brad-backs if I've flattened them down sufficiently.

Very reasonably priced. I found the tape needed to be used regularly or it seemed to seperate from the backing paper. Shame really, because it seemed a good idea to use the larger tape gun for bigger areas. Now I use the smaller one where you just throw out the tape carrier and slot a new one in. Expensive but less stressful!
