This boot was purchased to replace an old pair of snow boots. They are extremely warm but fit horribly. I wear an 8.5 in most shoes except open toe and sandals where I wear an 8 because I have short toes. These boots are very wide and sit about 1.5- 2 inches above my foot. If you tighten the laces to make them snug, they bunch up at the ankle. They would be perfect for thick ankled people with large calves or just really thick lower legs. They get really hot when laced tightly. There is a removable liner that fits well but the clunk is there because they are so boxy fitting. The inner lining fits small but the boot runs large. If I could get the liner in a size 9 and the boot in a size 8 (only whole sizes) they would be better. Skinny legs beware and mine cost $49.99 but for just 40 they would be alright. I wear the lightly laced to avoid the overheating and the ankle bunch up factor.
