My last pair of Merrell hiking shoes lived a long, resilient life, and I was afraid I wouldn't find any I loved as much. But, when I realized that all the tread was completely gone, I knew I had to get a new pair.

These shoes are awesome! I took them out of the box and onto the trail. They were fantastic. I didn't get into a creek, but I was awfully close to both it and two dogs that definitely were in it; no water made it through the shoes.

I hike in just the normal woods (trail, woods, some rocky patches)--nothing extreme, and these dos great.

I was on the fence about 7.5 or 8 after reading he comments, but I went with 7.5. I didn't find that they ran small at all. They were perfect. I didn't wear them with thick socks.

They're so comfortable, and look really cool. The red is more burgundy, and it looks really nice with the grey.

Best of all, they're vegan!

Lots of support. I find myself wearing them every day b/c of the support. The idea of wearing a flimsy sneaker (by comparison all sneakers seem flimsy compared to these) is now unapealing. I did not think I would like these at first b/c they are not as cushiony soft in the foot bed as other Merrell sneakers I have owned or other Merrell hiking shoes that I tried on in the sporting goods or dept. store. However, I wanted a vegan shoe. (Leather in shoes (& purses) seems a a needless act of cruelty.) I have noticed a significant decrease in slipping when I wear these to our dog park which is like a forest covered in slippery pine straw w/ hills & stumps, the place begs for hiking shoes. They are truly water proof! I have submerged my feet including the tongue & socks have stayed completely dry. The laces are good quality. I double knot them & they stay tied & then can easily get the knot opened even after wearing them all day, even if the laces got wet. I would give them 5 stars IF the foot bed offered a little more cushion like other Merrell hiking shoes & IF they has some reflective features like my husband's Keen hiking shoes. They are atrractive on my feet compared to most cross training sneakers I have owned. The fit is great. My foot measures a 9.5 Med to slightly wide w/ a slightly narrow heal. I always feel more comfortable in a size 10 closed toe shoe & these size 10 fit perfectly. They are a bit warm, that's ok since it's finally getting cool here in NC, & my feet are ready to get out of them by the end of the day but I really appreciate the support & ground traction. I would purchase these again.

Super comfortable and supportive. I work as a dog walker and these are great for being on my feet all day. And even better, they are completely waterproof. I go ahead and step right in deep puddles when I'm wearing them and my feet stay bone dry. I wish they made a tall insulated boot version for the winter. These take me through three seasons though, for a very reasonable price. I do trail hikes with the dogs but haven't taken them on real backcountry hikes so I can't speak to that. They are on the stiffer side, fyi. Fine for me but keep in mind if you are looking for extra cushioning.

I love this shoe! Last year I wore a pair sightseeing in Western Europe and hiking in Switzerland. Then I wore the same pair this year in Italy and the Mediterranean. It still looks like new. When a different pair gave out, I came right home and ordered another Gore-Tex Capra. Since I always travel with two pairs of shoes, alternating them so they can rest and air out, I am excited that both are now Capras. I plan to wear them all over Ireland in the fall, Costa Rica in the winter, and Switzerland again next summer. They are extremely comfortable and offer good support. While I did break them in, it wasn't all that necessary. Mostly I just like to know how they will feel before I commit them to a month long trip.

I ordered a pair of these from Merrell.com, and a pair from Amazon. The pair I ordered from Merrell were a 9.5, but a different color and they fit perfectly. The 9.5 I ordered from Amazon is labeled correctly, but fits more like a 9. It is roughly one centimeter smaller than the same shoe I ordered from Merrell's website.

Also, it's clear these shoes have been worn before. There were dry skin particles all over the insides.

La suola in vibram permette un'aderenza sulla maggior parte dei terreni e la struttura in goretex ripara dall'acqua ma allo stesso tempo permette una traspirazione adeguata. Sono un pelino calde, quindi in estate non propriamente indicate per girare in città. Sono scarpe studiate per camminate in montagna oppure da utilizzare in inverno.
