So, A) you can't see how long it's been locked without an external light.
Or, B) the lighted screen stays lit the entire time the shutter lock is on.
Which can be a bit frustrating. But this little remote is sooooo worth its cost that's its crazy not to buy it.

When I went out shooting astrophotography with my dad, he mentioned using a remote. The ones he had all had bigger ports, and for some reason, Canon built mine with a miniature port!
After our camping trip, I looked all over for a suitable remote that would have a hold button and a timer.
Skeptical at the cheap price, I purchased this and received it in 2 days.
This remote DOES IT ALL!
If you set your camera to BULB, you can press the HOLD button on the remote and slide the button up, and it will move upward to lock into place - keeping your camera shutter open and on to gather so much light!
It will then produce a red flashing light and make a ticking noise.
The cord is long enough to place nearby or dangle off of the camera without detaching comfortably since the remote is also lightweight.
CONS: There is no POWER button. You have to remove one of the AAA batteries (sold separately) for the remote to shut off.
I'd recommend this to anyone with a miniature port on their camera for the remote control!

you take the batteries out. But otherwise works well and all features are there as described. I use it with my Canon SL2/200D
The best thing to do is to go to YouTube, enter a search for "Shoot intervalometer" and choose one of the videos. There are several that easily talk and demonstrate how to use this accessory. Also, be very careful when putting back the battery cover, so as to avoiding forcing the cover on, and breaking the tip off! Another thing is that the unit does not have an off/on switch, so you have to remove the batteries each time the unit is inactive.
However, overall once you understand how to use this accessory,it works quite well.
