I run a winery tasting room in Northern California and IF you know how to use a two prong opener correctly, then this is for you. Worked every time for me without bending or deforming. I used it on some newer corks and then took it to an event where I had to open about a case worth of 1985 Late Harvest Riesling (the corks were really bad on these). In both instances the opener worked better than I had expected it to.The only reason this didn't get a full 5 stars is because the handle is a little loose and rocks a bit when you use it. I don't think it's going to fail, but I would have liked to see it be a little more stable. Also, the handle is very small and I can't fit my fingers into it.

I had a case of Montgras Reserva Carmenere 2008, even though I had stored it upside down so the corks would stay wet; the corks were breaking apart when I used a traditional cork screw. We purchased this wine opener to use with our vintage bottles where the cork was dried and crumbled with our regular hand press wine opener. This little guy works great, as long as you understand how to use it. You need to insert all the way, turn the opener to release the entire cork, and then finally pull while turning the cork. If you already knew this, kudos to you, I wasn't smart enough the first 3 bottles in. But now, this little guy works wonders!
